A teleprompter that feels like magic.
It learns how you read, keeps your place and has the next line up before you reach it.

Ahead of you
Speech recognition reports a word after you say it. OnPrompt also counts your syllables straight from the sound, so it knows you moved on the moment you do.
Learns how you read
A short setup read teaches it your pace, your pauses at commas and periods, and the words the recognizer mishears for you. Every take refines it, with or without the setup.
Restarts and skips
Start a sentence over and it hears you go back from the sound of your voice. Jump ahead and it follows as soon as your words could only be that line.
Pauses and asides
Stop to breathe, think or ad-lib, and the script holds where you left it, then picks up when you return to it.
Loud rooms
In a cafe or on a street it isolates your voice for listening, and never touches what is recorded.
All on your iPhone
Listening, learning and following all happen on your iPhone. Your audio is not sent to us.
The magic in OnPrompt
OnPrompt is built to be the best teleprompter on iPhone, and a large part of that is how it reads along with you. A teleprompter set to a fixed speed makes you keep up with it, and one that simply scrolls to the last word it recognized always trails a beat behind you. OnPrompt is built to read along with you the way a good teleprompter operator does: it knows your pace, sees your pauses coming, and has the next line in place before your eyes go looking for it.
Ahead of you, not behind
Speech recognition takes a moment to report each word. Rather than wait for it, OnPrompt listens to the sound of your voice directly, counting your syllables as you say them, and predicts where you are between recognized words at the pace you are reading. It accounts for how long recognition takes on your iPhone, so the script leads you instead of trailing you. When a line is nearly read, the next one slides into place.
It learns how you read
Set up your voice by reading a short passage. OnPrompt learns how fast you speak, how long you pause after a comma and after a period, how far your voice sits above the room, and which words the recognizer tends to get wrong for you, so a name it hears as something else still lands on the right word. Each take you record refines the profile. Skip the setup and it picks all of this up from your takes instead.
Stumbles, restarts and skips
Everyone starts a sentence over. When you do, OnPrompt matches the first moments of your voice after the pause against how you said that part of the script before, and goes back with you, often before the words are even recognized. Skip a line or a paragraph and it moves there once what you are saying could only belong to that place, so a common word repeated elsewhere never throws it.
Pauses, asides and ad-libs
When your voice stops, the script stops. Step off script to make a point and it holds your place through words that fit nowhere, then carries on when you come back to the script.
Your script, your words
OnPrompt listens for the names and jargon in your script, and it matches numbers and symbols however they are written. It breaks your script into short lines at natural places, at commas or before a conjunction and never inside a name. Write [directions] or (stage notes) in brackets and they show without being waited on as words, a blank line becomes a beat, and NAME: at the start of a line marks a speaker. With Pro, each speaker gets their own color and their own voice profile.
Loud rooms
In a busy room the gaps between your words disappear into the noise. OnPrompt turns on voice isolation for what it listens to when the room needs it, so it can still hear each syllable. Your recording keeps the room exactly as it was.
Wherever you read
Camera mode puts the script right under your iPhone's camera, so you read to the lens while it records. Teleprompter mode turns your iPhone into the prompter for another camera. Housing mode mirrors the script for a teleprompter hood. On iPhone Duo the script sits on the outer display beside the main cameras.
Private, and free
All of this runs on your iPhone, and your audio is not sent to us or to Apple for recognition. Voice following is part of OnPrompt's free version, on every plan. See pricing.
Questions
How is this different from a teleprompter that scrolls by voice?
A teleprompter that moves to the last word it recognized is always a beat behind, because recognition reports a word after you say it. OnPrompt also follows the sound of your voice syllable by syllable, learns your pace and pauses, and predicts where you are, so the next line is up before you reach it.
What happens if I start a sentence over?
OnPrompt hears you go back by matching the start of your voice against how you read that part before, and moves the script back with you.
What if I go off script?
The script holds your place, and picks up when you return to a line in the script.
Does it work in a noisy room?
Yes. When the room is loud, OnPrompt isolates your voice for listening. What you record is untouched.
Does voice following need an internet connection?
It runs on your iPhone. Your iPhone may download Apple's speech model for your language the first time you use it.
Is voice following free?
Yes. It is part of OnPrompt's free version.
